捡 Jiǎn : pick up / collect / gather

After a few weeks visiting LiJun and MaXiongYe, we all agreed that I photograph each of them during one day.

LiJun, from Guizhou, is learning English in a nearby bookstore. He wants a good job and doesn’t want to have a simple factory job.

MaXiongYe, from Hubei, doesn’t want to have a boss anymore.

They were both living under a bridge downtown Shenzhen at the time these pictures were taken. February 2008, the cold wave could be felt even in Shenzhen.
